Hello day-one folks βΒ and hello new folks!
A lot of our 5000+ subscribers joined the HRDlist newsletter back when we were fundraising for and documenting the creation of HRDCVR βΒ βa book-shaped magazine created by and for theΒ #newevery1.β HRDCVR, with hard work from a brilliant team, was published and distributed in 2015. The idea was born at Stanford University, where I was a John S. Knight fellow. Team HRDCVR learned so much from this project, and developed rare relationships. We had a vision, we had an ethos, we had a manifesto:
We continue to take HRDCVR ideas and values into the world. We dance with joy when we see our influence in the work of others. And we are eternally grateful to all of our 516 HRDCVR Kickstarter contributors βΒ you are our forever-family.

And after this photo walk down memory lane, some news : )
The HRDCVR project lives on in this HRDlist, in the work of myself and Elliott Wilson, and in the many people (beyond this list, even!) who built HRDCVR from the ground up. Please follow the continuing adventures and work of HRDCVR team members like Darian Harvin, Benjamin Meadows-Ingram, oBanquinho, Cameron White, Simon Keough, Brendan Bures, Belise Thomas, Mary C. Curtis, Paulana Lamonier, Dyana Laraios, Iman Stevenson, and Raylene Castillote.
So: over the last few years I have done everything from co-creating specials like this β¬οΈ
to writing stories like this one about the life and work of Sade β¬οΈ
Yet the most exciting project for me is Black Girl Songbook, my podcast-like show on Spotify. Iβve been getting interviewed about it and everything!
And, finally: my book: Shine Bright: A Personal History of Black Women in Pop is being published at the end of this summer. Iβll reveal the cover (and so much more!) soon. But there are pre-order links at Bookshop, and at Amazon.
The HRDList lives on βΒ and HRDCVR spirit lives within it. Watch this space : )
